That wooden ax handle will quickly deteriorate in the open air. Keep it under water until it can be properly preserved.

When I was much younger I worked the graveyard shift at a convenience store that was very near a strip joint. On Saturday nights I always had someone come in for bactine and bandages to patch up the contestants that were fighting over, uh, a "lady". If this pit was near a place to buy booze and hookers and there was a doctor practicing above a drug store in the same area that stayed open late on Saturday nights that would help account for all the bandage bottles. Grape juice must have been a popular sideline for the drug store.

I always assumed people in the past were more careful. But considering the amount of broken glassware clearly such is not the case. Judging by the experience of my 60s upbringing the people living at the turn of the 19th century were seemingly far more careless and/or clumsy?

Do you have a solution to the problem of calcium deposits on glass? Some of my greatest finds have them. I've tried everything to remove them! I'd love to see video of the cleaning process you use. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I just wonder if there's a better tool to use other than the garden trowel that you found. You would know better than anyone you have probably used all different types of utensils. Been watching your videos, I’m curious to know, are all the pits that you dig in out house holes? If so, are you at risk for becoming sick from the contaminated soil? Also, what do you do with everything that you dig up?

For the record: They can't all be "the Holy Grail" and "one of the greatest bottles you ever dug." Your overuse of those two statements takes away their legitimacy.

Why is the background of these old photos whitewashed??

When I lived in Howard SD I bought an old house and remodeled it. In the back yard was an old outhouse pit with a one hole concrete top over it. I removed the top and the hole was almost at ground level, and over grown with weeds. I got some good fill dirt from a local construction site and filled up the remaining depression and seeded it with grass seed. It's at 107 N. Vermillion St. I sold the house and moved to Sioux Falls 25 years ago, and never told the new owners about the pit. It is on the south side of the back yard behind the old garage.

He more I watch the more I'm convinced this is fake. All these bottles just placed in a whole perfectly intact. You know what I'm not seeing? Broken bottles and glass.

How long ago did you bury all this stuff? It just seems weird that when I dig bottles they are full of dirt. Most of the ones you dug are perfectly clean on the inside and have nice crystal clear liquid in them.

Almost like Nitroglycerine... They used to keep that stuff stored in underground tanks around here in southern Ontario Canada... They used it for torpedoing wells to fracture the formation.

That wasn't lizzie bordens Mother it was her step Mother anthere was tension between her an her step mother .There were accusations that her father may have molesting her for long time an hecwas not always kind to her an he was considered a penny pincher ! When trial was done and over she was Aquited not found guilty an shecan her sister lived together for a while but then her sister moved out did not want to live with lizzie .

Love your channel! My great great grandfather owned a liquor store in Chicago in late 1800 and was dissolved during prohibition. His name was Squire T. Harvey and I believe that name was on bottles or it was S.T. Harvey. His store was a distributor of various liquors with his brand. Do you recall ever finding any of these bottles in the Chicago area/Illinois or anywhere else? I would love to find a couple and would happily buy them from you. Thank you!
